A cover and a video are different files
This is the cover of the Wolves Up Close Reel from @natgeo. Opening the Reel directly returned a video that downloaded as an MP4 on 30 October 2026.

The saved MP4 had a lower resolution than the page metadata reported. Check the downloaded file when resolution matters.

A second Reel from @instagram returned a 720 × 1280 MP4 with an audio track on 31 October 2026. That video and its converted MP3 both saved successfully.
Download an Instagram Reel
- Open the Reel in Instagram. In the Share menu, choose Copy link; the option may be under More.
- Paste that link above and choose Find Reel.
- Play the returned video, then choose Download MP4. On a phone, check your browser’s downloads to find the saved file.
Keep the video, or save just its audio
Download MP4 saves the returned Reel video with the audio it contains. To make an audio-only file, open Instagram to MP3 with the same link and choose Convert to MP3. The converter keeps speech, music and background sound together.
If your link opens a post with several clips, use the Instagram video downloader to save its video slides individually. The same available lookup can be reused across both pages.
If a file is missing or unavailable
- Wrong media type
- A photo post may contain no video. Use the photo tool for images; a video cover alone cannot be downloaded as MP4.
- Private or sign-in required
- This tool cannot open that post. Use the original link in Instagram with your own account.
- Download stopped
- Retry the file while the result is available. Individual downloads are limited to 100 MiB.
- Expired links
- Choose Refresh links, then Find Reel to request the post again. A new successful lookup uses another lookup credit or your Tools balance.
How CarryFeed gets the file
CarryFeed opens the public post in a remote browser without signing in to Instagram, then offers the video files returned for that post. If Instagram requires a login or omits a file, the lookup cannot supply it.
The browser runs on Cloudflare Browser Run. An available lookup can be reused across the Instagram tools for about five minutes. Keep the original post URL after saving a file.

Common questions
Which link should I paste to download a Reel?
Use the individual Reel link, usually instagram.com/reel/ followed by its post code. Tracking parameters copied with it are removed. A profile’s Reels tab does not identify one video.
Does the downloaded Reel include sound?
The MP4 keeps the audio carried by the returned video. If that file is silent or its audio is unavailable, downloading it cannot restore the sound. For an audio-only file, use Instagram to MP3.
Can I choose HD or 1080p?
There is no quality selector. The available MP4 can have different dimensions from the Reel’s page metadata or cover. The recorded example below shows that difference.
Where is the Reel saved on my phone?
The destination depends on your browser. Check its downloads or the Files app first. To add the video to Photos or your camera roll, use your device’s sharing or save-video action if offered.
Can I download several Reels at once?
Paste one Reel link at a time. There is no whole-profile or Reels-tab download. A post containing several video slides can be opened in the video downloader.
Do I need an Instagram account or a CarryFeed account?
No Instagram account is connected. Sign in to CarryFeed to use prepaid Instagram lookups or your Tools balance. Private accounts, Stories, Highlights and pages that require an Instagram login cannot be opened here.
When does a lookup use my balance?
A successful lookup uses one prepaid lookup or your Tools balance. A partial result can count as successful even if the file you wanted is missing. File downloads and MP3 conversions reuse that result without another lookup charge. Failed lookups are not charged.
